Why I work with Flower Essences

Flower essences are not new when it comes to nature’s medicine cabinet. Used by indigenous cultures for thousands of years, the First Light Flower Essences of New Zealand® have been created for the 21st century, for the Aquarian Age.

I choose to work with these essences because of my own personal experience with them and because I have seen them first hand change animals’ lives. I have been prescribing essences for animals since 2009. Animals do not analyse the essences or make up a story about whether they work or not. They simply respond to being given them and if given essences that they do not need, then the energy of that essence dissipates.

I have seen animals respond both over time to being given essences and also within a day. A horse, who had her lifetime paddock mate euthanised, called out ceaselessly, remaining in the corner by the gate where her friend had left. Within a day of being given essences, she left the gate and began to graze quietly. It is common to see an animal make a shift more quickly than a human might. They may be traumatised, they may be stressed, but they do not carry the same mental complexities and layers that we people can.

I understand that different animal species each belong to a soul group consciousness. As individuals, they also have their own experiences while they evolve and grow. This in turn has a ripple effect on the soul group consciousness, to a greater or lesser degree. Giving essences to animals also influences to a greater or lesser degree, soul group consciousness.

Some animals have close relationships with humans, be they pleasant or otherwise and this brings its own challenges. It also brings the possibilities for the animal to individuate.  As we know, the animal kingdom is very much at our mercy, that is, we have gone to extraordinary lengths to control the environment around us as well as the animals that we share the planet with. A return to understanding and working in harmony with the laws of nature is needed, to move forward in relationship, not separation.

All that is being revealed as a result of the shift from the Piscean Age into the Aquarian Age, is asking us to create change in our own consciousness. There are many healing modalities available these days and for myself, working with nature in the form of flower essences for healing outcomes is a potent and effective way to assist not only us, but the animal kingdom to be helped at very deep levels of being. Plant intelligence, in the form of flower essences can help facilitate healing at physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels.

The flower essences are easy to work with. Once a bottle has been put together for a specific animal(s) and situation, the contents can be ingested (this is best), can be misted from a spray bottle, put in bath water or put on the skin. Land or buildings may also be misted with them in order to clear stuck or negative energy.

I love seeing the body language of an animal become joyful and lighter, seeing them become more responsive and engaged, seeing or sensing their sadness or depression ease and lift. The change in energy can be palpable. Sometimes they find they can cope with things that they were fearful of. Other times I see a physical change in their body, as if they had been stuck in a hole and could not heal, even though everything appears okay.

Just as with treating children, it can be advisable for a parent or caregiver to take essences, as relationships and circumstances are often closely linked. It is not uncommon for an animal to reflect what is going on for their person or a member of the family.

I personally have found that sometimes, putting in place other strategies to assist in a situation is part of an holistic approach. It is good to cover your bases, to explore your options so that you can reassure yourself that you have made positive or necessary change where possible. The flower essences support other healing modalities and practical changes very well.

Remember to seek professional veterinary care and attention where needed. It may be that the flower essences support an animal that is being treated by a vet. The two can walk side by side to help the animal. You can discuss this with your vet. Working in a co-operative way, is key in the Aquarian Age and co-operation is a key component of the First Light Flower Essences of New Zealand®.
